Two Russian students on a tour of Germany

Day 22

In Bavaria there are a large number of churches and monasteries. Today we visited Andechs Monastery – the holy mountain of Bavaria, which is an important spiritual, cultural and economic center.

Monks live in the monastery, and there is a beautiful baroque church, a well-known brewery for Andechser beer, and a small herb garden in which many medicinal plants are planted.

Not far from Andechs Monastery is the Ameersee, on which we took a boat trip. It was so nice to be in the surroundings of the lake in front of the Alps with the many green forests.

Day 23

Today we went on an excursion to the old city of Augsburg. We met Hans-Werner’s relatives, who gave us a lot of information about this city.

First we visited the town hall of Augsburg, which was badly damaged during the war. After that, the townspeople raised money to restore the building. The Golden Hall, which looks very magnificent, surprised us the most.

The Fuggerei is also located in Augsburg – the oldest social settlement in the world. This settlement was built by the well-known German entrepreneur Jacob Fugger in the 16th century. Until now, poor people live there who can get a comfortable apartment for 80 cents a year. But for this they have to go to the Catholic Church every day and pray there (the church is on the Fuggerei premises).

In the evening we visited a few shops in the city center and did some shopping.

Day 24

At the beginning of our excursion to Munich the weather was not particularly good: it was raining heavily and we decided to visit the German Natural Science Museum first. This museum is incredibly big and you could say it is a temple of science. You can find everything here – from a submarine to a replica of a human cell enlarged 350,000 times to a model of the atom and a space probe.

Luckily the weather was better later, and we took the walk through the center of Munich, viewed the city from above from the tower of the Frauenkirche and later relaxed with a glass of wine in the English Garden right next to the Munich Residence.

Day 25

Since childhood, we are all familiar with the symbol of Disney films – Neuschwanstein Castle, which we visited today. Incredible beauty, mysterious history of the castle, Alpine surroundings… All this creates a special atmosphere.

This castle was built by King Ludwig II. According to his wish, all walls in the castle are decorated with motifs from Wagner’s operas, and the swan is the symbol of Neuschwanstein. All rooms in the castle look magnificent! Some facilities in the castle are surprisingly modern, e.g. B. a telephone and a very generously equipped kitchen.

This castle evokes so many feelings that it is impossible to describe.

On this day we also visited the Wieskirche on the way, which is one of the most famous Catholic baroque churches in Bavaria and contains beautiful paintings and frescoes.

Day 26

Today we spent the last day in Bavaria and had the opportunity to visit the well-known behavioral psychotherapist – Erika Kurtenbach – in Munich. This meeting was very exciting and important for us because Ms. Kurtenbach is a very interesting woman who told us a lot about her work. She uses different methodologies with her very different patients and also works with Mariele Gessmann in the field of tapping acupuncture.

On the way back we were able to look at the beautiful Bavarian landscapes again, which are very different – the hills change very quickly to the flat country and vice versa.

Day 27

Today we got to know a new psychotherapeutic method called primal scream. This form of psychotherapy was developed by the American psychologist Arthur Janov and represents a new type of psychotherapeutic treatment method in Russia. With the help of this method, people can free their blocked energies by screaming.

In the evening we saw the film about the world-famous composer Ludwig van Beethoven together with Hans-Werner, from which we learned a lot about his life and work. His tragic fate was presented – the person who creates beautiful music cannot hear. Beethoven’s love story was also expressed with many feelings.

Day 29

The school system in Germany has many special features, e.g. B. There are different types of schools that students can choose based on their abilities. Today we visited one of these schools – the grammar school in the town of Straelen. We learned this facility with the help of Heike Hossbach, who has been the director of this high school since this year. It’s a municipal institution, but it’s not a typical school, because this high school is very rich and has everything that supports the favorable teaching process. There is a modern library, a large auditorium and even a rest room. There are many conditions for creativity development, e.g. beautiful spaces for music and art.

In the afternoon we took a walk through the town of Straelen and got to know many sights. The peculiarity of this city is the European Translators’ College, where translators from all over the world come to work together.

Day 30

During our stay in Germany we visited the nursing home in the city of Kleve. Today we had the opportunity to visit another nursing home to get a better idea of the system of care for the elderly.

This facility is located in Dremmen and is serviced by the Catholic Church. There are all the conditions here for old people to feel at home. There are single and double rooms, a large garden, a bright chapel. More than 80 people live in this facility and the atmosphere of understanding and love reigns everywhere.

Day 31

The country’s history is best understood through song and poetry. So the German musician Frank Baier created a lot of songs about the Ruhr area, and with the help of these songs he managed to preserve a historically important part of Duisburg – Rheinpreußensiedlung – 25 years ago. The houses should be demolished. But there was a strike at the town hall where Frank and his friends sang these songs. Just today we got to know this interesting person. Frank Baier is not only a talented musician, but also the author of the books about the Ruhr area.

After the meeting we visited the Burg Linn Museum, where we learned a lot about German history. The castle is located in a picturesque area and was built in the 12th century. When we were in this place we felt like we were in the Middle Ages.
